November 2018...Hello Type 1
I'm a nurse and work in a local hospital. I take care of adult patients who are ill with differing conditions or have had or are having surgery. I have taken care of many diabetic patients, the great majority having Type 2.
My youngest son was diagnosis with Type 1 in November 2018. Even though I knew a lot about diabetes and it's complications, I did not fully understand or appreciate all that Type 1 entailed.
My son and I went to the grocery store the week after he was diagnosed. We were looking for low carb alternatives and found the whole experience a bit disheartening. Over the past two months I have been to nearly every health food store and grocery store in town in search of low carb options.
I am compiling lists here that I would have appreciated the week after diagnosis. Hopefully, they might help you too.
